Land Oak Junction - here we go again!

Local Liberal Councillors say that they are "absolutely furious that proposals to ban traffic turning from the Birmingham Road onto the Chester Road at Kidderminster's Land Oak Junction are still alive and kicking".

Liberal Leader on Wyre Forest District Council Cllr Mike Oborski said today "We had hoped that this totally insane proposal has had quietly died the death by now. Indeed, County Council Officers had actually told us that it was now a dead duck!"

"However, to our absolute horror we find that the contractors for the Government's Highways Agency, which controls the two trunk roads concerned, have now asked the Wyre Forest District Council to express an opinion on the proposal."

"The matter goes to 24th August Meeting of the District Council Cabinet and we are greatly heartened by assurances from Tory Council Leader Cllr Stephen Clee that the Cabinet will take a rock sold line against the the proposal - in line with unanimously backed Council motion which Liberals proposed at Council earlier this year.":

Cllr Oborski said "the proposal must be killed stone dead as quickly as possible".

Liberal Councillors have argued that the proposed turning ban would cause chaos for local residents, nearby businesses and motorists as well as furning local residential roads throughout the area into massively over used 'rat runs'. Liberal Councillors earlier forwarded a massive local public petition against the proposal to the Highways Agency.

Borrington Road

Local Councillors have welcomed news that part of Kidderminster's Borrington Road will be resurfaced in the Autumn.

Cllr Mike Oborski said today "The surface has been deteriorating rapidly so we are delighted that County Highways Officers have now agreed that road should be fully resurfaced during the Autumn Half Term".

"This is very good news for local motorists and residents!"
